The oil you need is 5w/30 ford spec WSS M2C 913C. That's the info I needed. Millage on my car is 130k. So I think 5w30 would be fine if it was closer to 200k then I would be thinking o bout w40. Just wonted to know what people where using thanks for the info much appriciated.

In a diesel the oil will go black almost immediately, the soot/ particulates formed by the combustion process ends up in the oil via blow by the piston rings or wiped down the bores by the oil control rings, that's why diesel oils are a different spec to petrol ones to handle the particulates.
Thick smoke from the exhaust pipe is another symptom of a faulty Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCI engine. The smoke may be due to a build-up of carbon deposits in the engine or a sign of an oil or coolant leak. If you notice smoke coming from your exhaust pipe, you should have the problem diagnosed and repaired as soon as possible.
17 July 2013 at 9:42AM in Motoring. Checked my oil last week (for the first time in ages) and discovered the level had dropped to the "minimum" marker on the dipstick. It's been about six months since the last service. Topping up took about 1l of oil so it's burning about 1l in six months. The car is about 8 years old and has done 70k miles.

I had the MMt6. It holds 1.75 Litres of 75w-90 oil. I went to Ford for mine because I don't understand all of the variations of 75w-90.
