Producing 115 PS (85 kW; 113 hp) and 280 Nâ‹…m (207 lbâ‹…ft) it was a vast improvement over the 1.8 Endura-D powering the Mk2 Mondeo.

Firstly, I've got a 57 plate Mk4 mondeo TDCI 140 that's done about 150,000 miles (just run in, etc) and I noticed I was getting the "service oil" light pretty frequently - every 4-5k miles perhaps. I then noticed that my engine oil level was rising and the oil was looking kinda like diesel.
The part was revised by Ford in late 2002 and this prevented the problem from occurring in later engines. The archaic Endura-E 1.8 L turbodiesel engine was dropped, and replaced by a more sophisticated 2.0 L 16v Duratorq common rail (TDCi) unit with a variable geometry turbine.
