We have a Mk4 Mondeo 2.0 TDCi. Recently it was left untouched for just over a week. When I went to start it, it wouldn't - immobiliser active apparently. A bit of googling suggested a low battery *could* cause this - and we've known the car to have issues with the battery draining for no apparent reason. So I tried jump leads. No joy Hi all. On a cold start up I have a random rattling/knocking noise coming from the engine. No rhythm to it very random/erratic knocking noise. No noises on the move just on a cold start up. With the Mk3 it was pretty easy to reset, having set it off by accident a couple of times opening the bonnet with alarm still set (usally 6am when was checking screen wash etc lol). I have not even attempted to set the one on the MK4 off yet, not even sure how to frig it so you can see how to reset it. I have recently had a couple of occasions where my mk4 mondeo 2.2tdci 175 on an 09 plate has struggles to start when the outside temperature was warm but the car had been parked up for 12 hours in the work car park. Once the engine has warmed up it is not an issue to start and it is not every time however it does hi im struggling with my mondeo 2.2 tdci mk4 2008 that wont start, i decided to do the rocker gasket which ment i had to disconnect the injector pipes. Having read lots about them, sounds expensive to replace. to do fix , engine off , disconnect circlip that connects actuator arm from turbo to electronic actuator, with a pair of pliers or grips move arm forwards and backwards quite hard and fast until it frees itself, should only take 20 secs.. spray arm with lots of wd40. reconnect arm to actuator ,insert circlip to hold.
